6/9/13

I went to Jardin du Luxembourg with my friends. It was very beautiful, and much larger than I expected. There were walking paths with benches in very green gardeny areas and there was also a large opening leading up to the Luxembourg Palace. The Luxembourg palace is the building designated to the senate. It’s a beautiful building, but surrounded by armed guards which is a little scary. Like I said in front of the palace, there is a large patio that contains a fountain. The fountain is quite large itself, but is very calm and is a nice place to sit and relax. This area was quite popular for families also because children can rent sailboats and play with them in the fountain. It was very cute. There was also a magnificent fountain that we saw. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name, but I remember learning about it, and its story in class. As we continued to walk around the gardens we found a free exhibit with some artwork. It was quite small, so we quickly looked around and then rested in the rose garden. Unfortunately it started to rain so we had to look for shelter. We came upon a cafĂ© called Angelina’s. My professor from Iowa had told me about this place and said that it was an absolute must go to because of its world famous hot chocolate. Since it was cold and rainy, we figured it was the perfect opportunity to get some hot chocolates. There were also several other little desserts that we decided to get and try. After having way too much chocolate and sugar, we went our separate ways and headed home to prepare for work the next day.
